The Paeria recognized 24 companies and social agents that, during 2023, have contributed significantly to improving and modifying situations of social exclusion. They did so within the framework of the Recognition for Social and Solidarity Action, whose award ceremony took place at the Enric Granados Auditorium coinciding with the Day of Social Justice. Specifically, the City Council awarded SERHS Food at the proposal of the Charity Association San Vicente de Paul (Arrels). The company was represented by Jordi Cabrespina (Business and Financial Director), Jorge Fernández (Area Manager), and Eudald Puig (Marketing and Communication Director). On the part of the association, Susi Costafreda was present along with representatives of the organization.
Since the end of 2022, the company has had a relationship with the Charity Association San Vicente de Paul, collaborating in the management of food utilization to reduce waste and make food in perfect condition from the point of view of food safety accessible to the public. With these premises, coordinated work has been carried out between the Arnau de Vilanova and Santa Maria hospitals, the Charity Association Sant Vicenç de Paül, and SERHS Food to promote a collaboration agreement that includes this initiative to provide surplus food to people in Lleida in situations of social vulnerability. This initiative has been well received, and its operation is satisfactory. It fits perfectly into the human aspect, the idea of social integration, and sustainability as fundamental pillars of SERHS Food.
The Mayor of Lleida, Fèlix Larrosa, presided over the award ceremony and reflected to the audience on the question, “What would we do without you?” In these terms, Larrosa referred “to committed companies and third-sector entities because they have and contribute clear and strong value to Lleida society.” Also, the Deputy Mayor for Action and Social Innovation, Carlos Enjuanes, recalled that “more than a year ago, I represented one of the entities that expressed genuine gratitude to companies that serve as a stimulus and an example for the sector.” The Recognitions for Social and Solidarity Action in Lleida, now in their eleventh year, have allowed the distinction of a total of 245 companies and social agents.
