At Serhs Food, we have received a commendation from the Mataró City Council for the increase in properly sorted selective waste collection at the center during 2024. Thanks to our collaboration with the City Council, specifically with the waste, cleaning, and circular economy department, we benefit from a door-to-door waste collection service, which simplifies the entire process.
We operate with:
- 2 containers of 800 liters for organic waste, with 80 collections last year.
- 6 containers of 1,100 liters for paper and cardboard, with a total of 456 collections.
- 4 containers of 1,100 liters for packaging waste, with 226 collections.
- 1 container of 1,100 liters for general waste, with 59 collections.
- 1 container of 2,400 liters for glass, emptied approximately once a month or every two months.
Thanks to this efficient waste management, we’ve been informed that over 90% of the collected waste was correctly separated and sorted. This figure is excellent news, as it demonstrates a remarkable improvement in waste practices. We’re pleased to see this progress, which is reflected not only in the results but also in the economic benefits, since based on these figures, the company has received a significant bonus.
We want to highlight that this improvement clearly reflects the potential for continuous improvement in the system. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of all involved parties, we can continue moving toward a more efficient waste management model, which benefits the environment, society, and businesses. This is another important step toward a more sustainable future.
