SERHS Food has been the chosen company, since January 2020, of the catering service that is carried out in this important center in Lleida, both by users in full board and staff meals, in total more than 400 daily people.
San Juan de Dios Terres de Lleida – Almacelles Center has been serving people with intellectual disabilities since 1965, with residential, day and hospitalization services. All of them destined to offer specialized attention, under the Person-Centered Attention Model, where the person is taken into account as a reference and driving force in their care process. The Hospital Order of San Juan de Dios is one of the largest international non-profit cooperation organizations in the world. It is also an institution that is part of the Church and, therefore, different from Non-Governmental Organizations. Its origin dates back to the 16th century. It is currently present in more than 50 countries on five continents and consists of 1,230 Brothers, more than 50,000 professionals among employees and workers, 8,000 volunteers and more than 300,000 benefactors and donors.
SERHS Food has more than 40 years of experience and a team of 2,550 workers. With this new addition, it reinforces its implementation in the Lleida area where it manages the feeding of large centers such as the socio-health complex of the University Hospital of Arnau Vilanova from Lleida (HUAV), belonging to the Catalan Institute of Health, which is the reference center of acute patients in the health regions of Lleida and Alt Pirineu-Aran. It also influences the eastern fringe of Aragon. They are also part of the Santa María Hospital and the Biomedical Research Institute. The population included in these territories together reaches the figure of 450,000 inhabitants. On the other hand, in the field of education SERHS Food runes the food service, for more than 4 years, of the Claver Raimat School (Jesuits Lleida) of more than 1,300 students, a reference center in the area. SERHS Food is the first and only collective restoration company in Spain certified with the FSSC 22000 standard for food safety.
For 5 weeks, SERHS food, through the fifth range products brand Eudec, has contributed to the management of the patients and workers diet of Hospital of Barcelona. Given the problems faced by a renovations period in the hospital kitchen, the Barcelona-based company found in SERHS Food the answer in the variety and quality of the products, flexibility and speed of the service.
Hospital of Barcelona, which is part of Assistència Group, had to do structural reforms that involved stopping his kitchen production located at the same building at Barcelona’s Diagonal Avenue, and found in Eudec a supplier with 400 product references without preservatives neither colorants, and with a specific free allergen products line that was perfectly adapted to the already established menu, by the hospital dietary department.
Accordingly, a double option menu with two weeks of rotation was configured, with the different characteristics of diets that a hospital with such these characteristic requires.
Eudec textured shredders: a very appreciated solution for hospitals
Given the challenge of providing gastronomic solutions for hospitals, Eudec produces food keeping in mind that there is many people with chewing and swallowing food difficulties. Our shredders present a similar look and texture from the original food, with a home-made and traditional flavour, making its consumption pleasant despite the need of being supplied only with shredders and purées.
Five weeks that open new possibilities. The agents involved in this management success
The success achieved with SERHS food and the Hospital of Barcelona collaboration required an excellent coordination between the different agents involved from both companies. On one hand there are the commercial and product technicians from SERHS Food, as well as the dietary team, that built an adapted and flexible proposal without incidents during the service delivery.
On the other hand, the Hospital of Barcelona Head of the Restoration Service, Chef and cooking team implication and know-how was fundament to achieve a complex and, at the same time, ambitious goal to ensure the same quality and service levels that the hospital usually offers. All together, it has generated an entire range of positive synergies that might lead to future collaborations, as the Head of Restoration Service said.
